Darien Police say they stopped a vehicle that was missing a front license plate on Old Kings Highway North on Monday, June 24 around 11:45 a.m.

Further investigation revealed that the vehicle’s passenger, identified as Mark Cacciotti, 46, of Norwalk, had an active bench warrant for his arrest, police say.

Cacciotti was taken into custody, and a search of his belongings led to the discovery of two plastic straws with white powdery residue at the tip and a black leather case containing approximately 2.5 grams of a white powdery substance that later tested positive for cocaine, according to police.

Cacciotti was charged with possession of narcotics. He was also charged with failure to appear as per the bench warrant.

Cacciotti was held on a $5,000 bond, $2,500 for the bench warrant and $2,500 for the narcotics charge. He is scheduled to appear at Stamford Superior Court on Monday, July 8.
